What it actually does
The Moon Vortex is a trend gadget for bike lighting: a front light with a built-in battery charged via USB cable. According to the manufacturer it delivers a maximum of 1000 lumens and offers 7 light modes. The LiION battery has 2200 mAh; the stated runtime of 70 hours does not say which mode. Charging takes 3.30 hours at 2A or 5.30 hours at 1A. An indicator shows the battery as full, low or charged. The lamp is rated IPX 5 against water, measures 31 x 31 x 111.5 mm and weighs 120 g. A universal mount and USB charging cable are included.
Reasons for
- 1000 lumens per manufacturer
- USB-rechargeable battery
- Universal mount and cable included
- IPX 5 water protection
Reasons against
- Shipping costs CHF 17.99
- Runtime mode not specified
Who should skip it
Riders who stick to lit city streets hardly need 1000 lumens. Anyone who already owns a USB front light gains little. And shipping of CHF 17.99 eats into the discount, so a single-item order deserves a second look.
