What it actually does
The Jarina by Paulmann is a white LED wall lamp with two light sources that can be used independently. One LED module at the top shines towards the wall for indirect light; a second points forward and down onto the built-in shelf and its surroundings, which according to the manufacturer is enough for reading. Two chrome-finish rotary switches turn each module on and off and dim it. A USB port charges a smartphone or tablet. The transformer keeps the lamp slightly off the wall, and it runs from a plug in a wall socket.
Reasons for
- Two light sources, dimmed separately
- Built-in USB charging port
- Shelf for phone or tablet
- Plugs into a wall socket
Reasons against
- No brightness figures given
- Needs a socket nearby
- Shipping costs CHF 8.99
Who should skip it
Without a socket near the intended spot you will have a visible cable, as the lamp is plug-operated. If you only need a plain reading light, you are paying extra for the shelf and USB port. The shop gives no brightness figures.
