What it actually does
The DJay Smart is a dimmable Nordlux LED ceiling light that, according to the manufacturer, also works as a speaker; music playback is controlled through the free Nordlux Smart Light app. The same app adjusts brightness, colour temperature from 2,700 K to 6,500 K and an RGB colour change, plus room groups, timers and light scenes for up to 50 elements. It connects via Bluetooth mesh and can still be switched on and off at a normal wall switch. Four rings in different colours are included to change the look. Colours listed in the feed: white, grey.
Reasons for
- Light and speaker in one
- Four interchangeable rings included
- Still works with wall switch
Reasons against
- Voice control needs separate bridge
- No information on sound quality
Who should skip it
If you just want a ceiling light, you are paying for a speaker and RGB effects you may never use. Anyone with decent speakers already, or expecting voice control out of the box, should pass: Alexa and Google Assistant need the separate bridge.
