What it actually does
The Gardigo Solar-Tiervertreiber is a garden device intended to keep unwanted animals such as dogs and cats away. According to the manufacturer, when an animal enters the motion sensor's range it emits an ultrasonic signal with alternating frequencies between 25 and 62 kHz. These tones are said to be inaudible to humans. The unit is fixed with a ground spike or mounted on a wall, runs on solar power and comes in green. The description gives no figures for sensor range, nor any evidence of how well it works on specific animals.
Reasons for
- Runs on solar power
- Ultrasound inaudible to humans
- Ground spike or wall mount
Reasons against
- No sensor range stated
- No evidence of effectiveness given
Who should skip it
If you have your own pets in the garden, the motion sensor will not tell them apart from strays. Anyone expecting a guaranteed fix for cats or dogs finds no proof of effectiveness in the manufacturer's details. Shady spots suit solar power poorly.
