What it actually does
The OttoSafe Knob is a wireless rotary controller with an aluminium dial that operates the CarPlay function on the OTTOCAST Mini NOVA, Mini Pico and U2Air Edge adapters. You turn to select, press to confirm and tap Home for the CarPlay home screen. According to the manufacturer, the dial has 14 tactile detents. It mounts with the included 3M adhesive on a smooth, flat centre-console surface; no cables need routing. The adapter needs a firmware update, and wireless Android Auto is not supported. It comes in black only. The US shop Ottocast sells the trend gadget for USD 39.00 and ships internationally.
Reasons for
- Wireless, mounts with 3M adhesive

Who should skip it
Without an OTTOCAST Mini-series adapter the knob is useless; the manufacturer names no other compatible systems. Wireless Android Auto users are left out too. And if you would rather not flash a firmware update or order from a US shop, give it a miss.
