What it actually does
The Assisi Sitra from Konstsmide is a black LED solar table lamp intended for use outdoors. A solar module built into the lampshade charges the rechargeable batteries from sunlight alone, according to the manufacturer; that stored energy is used up while the lamp is lit. The light source is a high-power LED that the manufacturer describes as cosy light. A dusk sensor switches the lamp on and off by itself, and no cable is required. One catch: the required AAA rechargeable batteries are not included.
Reasons for
- Charges via solar module, no cable
- Dusk sensor switches it automatically
- Intended for outdoor use
Reasons against
- AAA rechargeable batteries not included
- Only 5 percent off
Who should skip it
If you need a bright lamp for working or reading, a solar-powered lamp meant for cosy light is the wrong tool. Anyone without a sunny spot, or unwilling to buy AAA rechargeables separately, is better served by a mains-powered lamp.
